The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has successfully executed a high-risk extraction mission to bring home the survivors of the terrorist attack that targeted Ghanaian traders in Burkina Faso.
In a statement released today, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the Military Command confirmed that the Ghana Air Force deployed an aircraft early this morning to evacuate the injured citizens from the border region.
The Mission
The evacuation follows the harrowing incident on Saturday, February 14, where a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana was caught in a terrorist ambush near Titao, in northern Burkina Faso.
While some traders tragically lost their lives at the scene, three survivors who sustained gunshot wounds and severe injuries managed to hide until security forces secured the area.

Arrival in Accra
The Air Force flight touched down at the Air Force Base in Accra shortly before noon. A fleet of military ambulances was on standby to transport the survivors directly to the 37 Military Hospital for specialized trauma care.
Government Response
The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who was at the base to receive them, commended the military for their swift response.
"The President directed that we spare no resource in bringing our people home. We are heartbroken for those we lost, but grateful we could save these three. The government will cover all their medical expenses," the Minister stated.
Border Alert
The Ministry has reiterated its warning to traders to avoid traveling through the Titao-Ouahigouya corridor due to the volatile security situation in the Sahel. The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso continues to work with local authorities to identify and repatriate the remains of the deceased.
