Accra, Ghana — A long vehicle transporting tissue paper, second-hand clothing, and soft drinks caught fire early this morning at Alabokazo along the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The fire reportedly broke out at around 4:00 a.m., quickly engulfing the rear of the truck and producing thick smoke that was visible for several kilometers.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were dispatched to the scene and have been battling the blaze. Firefighters are currently working to bring the fire under control, and additional fire tenders have been requested to assist due to the intensity of the blaze.
At the time of reporting, the fire service has not recorded any human fatalities, and emergency crews continue to monitor the situation to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby vegetation or vehicles.
Officials have not yet confirmed what caused the fire, and investigations are expected to begin once the blaze is fully extinguished.
Motorists are advised to be cautious in the area as emergency operations continue.
