Abeiku Gilbert Aggrey, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (Operations), has disclosed that government is set to commission Hamamat Montia and Wiyaala as tourism ambassadors for Ghana’s shea butter industry.
Speaking on the phone with Joy 99.7 FM, Abeiku explained that the move is part of efforts to capitalize on the renewed global spotlight on Ghanaian shea butter, following American streamer IShowSpeed’s IRL visit to Ghana, which generated massive online interest.
According to him, the initiative seeks to properly brand Ghana’s shea butter, promote local producers—especially women in northern Ghana—and position the product as both a tourism and economic asset.
