A major accident involving a fuel tanker has brought traffic to a standstill on the busy Nsawam-Accra highway this morning. Preliminary reports indicate that a collision involving the tanker caused a spark that ignited the fuel, leading to a catastrophic chain reaction.
Eyewitnesses at the scene describe a terrifying sight as thick black smoke billowed into the sky, visible from kilometers away. At least seven vehicles caught in the vicinity have been completely burnt by the spreading flames.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have been deployed and are working frantically to contain the blaze and prevent it from reaching nearby structures. As of now, no casualties have been officially confirmed, but emergency responders are still assessing the scene. The police have cordoned off the area and are advising all motorists to use alternative routes to avoid the gridlock.
