A suspected arson attack at the church auditorium of Pastor Elvis Agyemang, the convener of the popular Alpha Hour prayer movement, has led to the arrest of a woman after fire was deliberately set inside the building.
The incident occurred in the early hours during the ministry’s Alpha Hour dawn prayer session, a widely followed spiritual gathering that draws thousands of worshippers both in person and online.
According to church leaders, the woman initially blended in with worshippers before reportedly pouring a flammable substance inside the auditorium and igniting it. Responders on site were able to contain the fire quickly, preventing it from spreading and causing greater damage.
Pastor Agyemang addressed the situation during the service, confirming that the suspect had been handed over to the police and would face legal action. He stressed that the law must take its course and that such actions would not deter the ministry’s activities.
Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured, and nearby structures were not significantly affected thanks to prompt action by attendees and church security personnel. The building is now under examination to assess any damage and to strengthen safety measures for future gatherings.
The Alpha Hour movement, led by Pastor Elvis Agyemang, is known for its early-morning intercessory prayers and has a broad following across Ghana and beyond.
